Guided teacher inquiry
Fully supported guided inquiry 3 x 2 hour sessions – $1799
As teachers we are accountable for making a positive difference to the learning of children. Teaching as inquiry is a way of thinking about, evaluating and developing your teaching practice specifically referenced to the difference you make for learners.
The introductory session will explain the inquiry cycle and then step you through the planning and preparation of your own inquiry. We will clarify how you might use inquiry as a vehicle for improving your practice and for evidencing practice for the purpose of appraisal and/or teacher certification. By the end of the session you will be ready to undertake an inquiry. Note that there is the option to have a 2 hour follow up several months after the initial session. This is an opportunity for teachers to revisit and clarify key messages and to identify next steps in their inquiries. This is very effective for supporting motivation and ensuring momentum continues beyond the first session.
The fully supported guided inquiry includes the above components, some on-going email support and a third session in which teachers share their inquiries to date and receive comprehensive feedback on how they might further strengthen their inquiries in order to enhance learner outcomes.
Barbara facilitated a workshop for our team recently on a Saturday morning. We found the content and delivery to be perfectly aligned with the needs and expectations we had. We know our teachers now have a better understanding of inquiry processes and as a result are empowered with tools to improve their practice for the benefits of children and whānau.”
